Future Daughter (The Raconteur)

I heard Bruce Willis say; "God gives us children so we can have roses in December". But I know with you, he'll give me a garden full. That's a bounty for the bountiful, From a birds eye view, I'll watch you grow into a Wonder Woman, One that knows how to mend a broken heart but often times take charge of situations. I'll groom you up into an African woman, You'll have a strange name that holds earthly meanings of your root, your culture and tribe. When people laugh at your own, Sing cheers of Hallelujah because they only mock the continuity of life. I'll have men chase unicorns then feel butterflies in their stomach,  Before they can even come close to tasting your sweetness, sweetness. Donna, Donna, Donna, Donna, I have a sense of  eunoia writing this because I know you hold an allure, I'll breed you into Psalm 31,  So virtuousness will be the order of your day. I know you'll be a logophile, I pra...

Poetry (The Raconteur)...Happy birthday.

I fell in love with you at age 6, The very night I looked up at the sky and saw the beauty of the stars. That very night, I penned down the most beautiful thing then in my eyes, Created by one of the greats, Celine Dion. Every night in my dreams,  I see you,  I feel you. How beautiful you were and still are, How beautiful you make expressions come to life, How beautiful you … Wait, You know I can go on and on to tell you how beautiful you are but still wouldn't find the right expression to tell you how beautiful you are. You know you're my saving grace, You know you changed my suicidal thoughts the very day I penned down The Poem from my last collection of art. It felt like the Holy Grail. I remember the first day I expressed my art when I was 16, It felt beautiful,  Then I realised how powerful words are, Then I thought about how bad my dad must have abused my mom and that shit turned me into a real sicko. But Sola...

A Soldier's Tale. (The Raconteur)

Picture this, The night before, you're having a fun chilling session with your crew, Happy moments are made and are created into memories the very second the clock ticks. Priceless right? Now picture this, 12 hours later, You're picking body parts of some of your crew members, As though in a butcher shop, Trying to buy your favourite meat and picking it's body part for your assessment. Yea, that scenario. I have your mind focused on a motion picture, I have you thinking more than A,B,C. Now, I think I have your attention. The brothers in arms, Dedicated and swore to always put the protection of their country as their number one priority. Now apply the second paragraph of this poem to the life of a soldier. It's even pathetic when I say the government of the country I live in don't even come close to half on a scale, in supporting its soldiers. Unfortunately, But this is almost a routine for soldiers in sambisa forest, B...

Tatted Angel (The Raconteur)

She's the girl every girl looks up to, She's the girl most parents wish was theirs, The girl every guy wish was his. Her modesty, she portrays,  Makes her the girl everyone wanted around. Orphan girl from a young age, She struggled with her grandmother who taught her the core values of a lady. She listened to grandma, As grandma's words brought that of wisdom. Grandma's words gave her guidance and made her the girl everyone wanted around them, At least it seemed but there was more of her that was far from their eyes. A young beautiful girl, She's seen her friends attain some kind of "next level", She feels detached from her friends she's done everything with. Grandma's words knocks on her membrane, She has an inner conversation with her conscience, She's faced with two different choices that could well pan out her life overtime. She visualises herself a superstar, The visions of the glamour attain ...

V.O.L. (views on life) (The Raconteur)

To be born is to someday die, To love is to someday get heartbroken, To hate is to disregard, To live forever is immortality which is crazy, But true genuinely self happiness is a lifetime.                                                   - Devante.

Need To Know (The Raconteur).

Done saying I'm done playing, Last time is this time, Tired of giving a shit about people, Been used to that my whole life. Gave heads up on my snap at the end of 015, Don't see the point of snapchat in 016. Antisocial thinking it's social where people care less of how you feel but really the media making the most out of it. Martin said no one has your back other than yourself,  It's a lonely world when alone. Feeling the weight of the world, That's how you feel Martin when you try proving a point to the world other than yourself. Focus on being a better you yesterday never saw and let your tomorrow do all the talking, Now that's word of mouth. A flex guy I was, thanks to the roommate back in apartment 316 You helped change my style and looks, But it took Tunde waking me up from my slumber, life isn't about the shoes, clothes and bottles. Life measures so it's standard with our standards. You need to get used ...

Mother's Heart.

Gazing at you sternly now I'm old enough, I can never explain how I still feel like a kid around you. Like a knight, You serve as my shield and sword, Always there to protect me as I've sworn to ever fight for you in this cruel world. I see your hidden tears but I never know how deep it hurts, I see your scars but never know how many battles you've fought, I see your smile but I sure do know how much Joy that brings to me. Your heart is of your fist size,  But it still has room for a million things related to me Mother's heart beats always for me until mother's heart beats no more. In Nego True's words, "Sometimes you got to put something beautiful last, to make something beautiful last". I make merry with you so I keep these memories whelved in the safe of my heart, But it'd never be like my mother's heart, Consumed with love for me. Happy birthday Mom! 50 has a new face around.

Last Summer.

Wow! It's amazing when I travel down memory lane to this time, I'm amazed at how things have actually changed. What a time that was. A new stage in my life, I've got a chance to get something in control, Carve out something I call mine. But first need to learn my surroundings. Last summer, I heard of your dads death, And a plus to my misplaced count of life and death, starred me into my soul. I watched you tell tales about your dad, A super hero in your eyes, you spoke proudly of him. I likened your dad to mine, a bitch move and one I'm not proud of, There's no life better than yours so I gotta love mine, But I can hardly careless if I hear about his death. How can I love mine when mine hasn't even loved me? And I actually realized that the girl of my dreams wasn't far off from my reality, It was a make believe and still is. A moment I find myself chasing waterfalls, Hoping I don't lay to rest in its bed. I was probably falli...

The Reply. (End Of T.P.R.A.N.)

And to the lady, Who solely HAD the key to the chest of my beating heart,  Like that of David Jones.  I too am not sure about us but I know what's real.  You revealed myself to myself,  Showed me the idea of whom I want to spend forever with.  I'm still a growing young man learning about life,  I think I know enough about life but that's me lying to myself, But one thing I know for certain is,  Whatever is best for you never goes away.  It could only go into hiding just to see how hard you'd search for it or maybe,  try replacing it and,  If it's best for you then your only option is to search hard for it.  God knows what's best for us all. Only a fool wouldn't put his faith in God.  Having a relationship with God is the ultimate.  I don't go by the terms Christianity or religion, These days these words aren't what they ought to be.  Personal observations has left a cu...

The Holy Ghost.

Holy Ghost! I'm on my knees, I'm on my knees. Holy Ghost! You're all I need, you're all I need. I could relate perfectly to this. Walking through the neighbourhood I grew up in, I could feel home again, I'm freedom. How much I've missed Lagos, How much I've missed calling Maryland home. It's all thoughts and smiles and greetings around here, I elope in this region. Jesus! With a scream, I heard as I approached the church in my neighbourhood. With pain from the deepest part of her heart, She screamed again, Jesus. I could tell she's female, judging by the tone of her voice. She sounds like she has gotten to the walls of frustration, She has been eaten up by the pawns of struggle. Her pain! I felt her pain from the sound of her voice. Right there where I was, across the church, I went down on my knees in all appreciation to The Most High. I have my battles Lord, I open my heart to you. This wom...
